Setting boundaries is important, even with your Dr.

August 28th, 2007

Some of us, and many of our parents, regard Doctors as significant ‘authorities’. Yes, they are authorities in their line of work and revered as professionals, but they are also just people - like those of us ‘non-Doctors’.
It can be helpful to remember that both when we are wanting them to perform miracles, and especially […]

Bottle Moments

August 8th, 2007

One thing I learned from spending time with my mom before she passed away is that you can not “bottle moments” for later. What I mean by this is that it is not always the best thing to write everything down or tape record loved one’s voices -no matter how much you want to. […]

We need to breathe

July 30th, 2007

Caring for yourself while being part of a VIP Care Team

July 30th, 2007

Being one of my Mom’s VIP Team members ultimately defined me in my 20’s (a “for better or for worse” statement if there ever was one!). My life was no longer my own and that was not only to my detriment but also to those who I cared for. Because I saw caring for […]

The Wrong Pills Gives Me The Chills

July 13th, 2007

Whether your pharmacist is fresh out of school or has been dispensing since your parents were in diapers, I still vital that you check your meds before leaving the pharmacy. Recent headlines and news pieces from home town papers to ABC’s 20/20 have illustrated wildly spread dispensing issues in the US and as customers […]

Don’t Know How To Express Your Feelings Out Loud?

July 12th, 2007

Try Channeling Your Energy Into Activity.
Frazzled, anxious, hyper or sad? Emotions can create excess energy which, if not released, can create further distress. Some people find it very therapeutic to talk out their feelings, others… not so much. For those who are less verbally-inclined, activity can have an equally positive effect.
By engaging in […]
